In one of my comments, a friend posted a link with a recommended language tool http://www.karensadoptionlinks.com/product.html
I have looked into this and it appears very interesting. It says that it has over 150 adoption specific phrases that will help with an older child's language. It also has a CD that comes with it to help the children learn English quickly as well. It is $90 for the parent CD, the child's CD and the book.
Has anyone used this? Is it worth the cost?
I would love to hear from anyone who has used it.

Hi. I was recommended the same resource and I did buy both for $90. (by Teresa Kelleher, right?) I did find the actual small book that came with the first guide to be very helpful and I refer to it all the time. I used the CD just once to hear the pronunciation, and then just practice with the small book. It's actually kind of pricey for what you get, but it has been by far the best tool for me personally. I attempted the Rosetta Stone and some other audio tools for in the car, and they are much more complicated and I only want to learn the adoption communication phrases to talk with my 3 yr old daughter until she learns English. I would love to learn the whole language, but I have to be practical about my time and energy. It's much more difficult than when I learned German. I haven't used the second book in the set at all, but as I recall, it would be used with your child later. I am still waiting to get my court date in Vlad, so I haven't had any real time using what I've learned yet.

Stephanie,
We bought the set. I think it was over priced for what you can find out there. I would keep looking.

Stephanie,
It is me again. Sorry I was at work and didn't have much time to type a lengthy note about the Theresa Kelleher stuff.
We only purchased the flash cards. They were wonderful. I want to say it was around 15 Dollars or so, cant remember.
As far as the one for the child, if I remember from reading your blog correctly, your daughter is pretty young. Our boys were 2.5 and 4 and they learned english VERY fast. They were fluent within 3 months. Just being immersed in the language is a quick way to learn.
We adopted 2 years ago from CHI and the you would never know the boys ever spoke another language prior to english.

I've been using http://www.geocities.com/bobkatjane/RussianforAdoptiveParents.html and thought it was quite good for the price.
We bought the "Russian for Adoptive Parents" CDs and list of phrases.

We have found this set very helpful in preparing to go back for our second trip and bring our boys home. It's only about $20 and worth the price. Blessings!
We purchased the set also because we had requested siblings 2-5 and thought we would get an older child. We are going to come home with one 2 yo and he only speaks about 4 words total so I do not think that the Rush into English will help him. However, the book they have for parents to use while in country was very helpful. If you really want to try the Rush into English part, I would be more then glad to let you borrow it(we might adopt again in the future) just email me at mcanestr@columbus.rr.com.
What I am planning on using with him is a basic set that I found online for teaching babies to read. It looked like he would be able to do better with something that he can watch and look at in a book. The website is www.yourbabycanread.com/
